My Littlest Sweetie Turns ONE

L is such a little sweetie! She had a great birthday... lots of fun and loved her cake! She's walking quite well now, but not running yet (thank goodness!). I can't believe she was born 1 year ago! My water broke a little after 10 p.m. Then the contractions started getting stronger and we went to the hospital at midnight. Things got very intense and after many position changes, etc. I did get a shot of Nubain to help take the edge of the constant contraction I was experiencing (the last 2 hours... 1 long contraction that never really gave me a break). Other than that, she was born naturally after about 2 pushes at 3:30 a.m. Hubby and Becky (Magic Fingers) were there to help me through. She was 9 pounds and 21 inches long. I felt much better after her birth than H's. I think skipping the epidural helped me greatly when it came to healing afterwards.

Happy Birthday to the Sweetie Pie!

What a Day!

Well, we had our first day with Laurence, my cousin's 3 month old, yesterday. He'll be staying with us for April until his slot is open at his new daycare at the beginning of May. He's such a little cutie! After he and Janet went home we took the kids to the soccer fields at Cosmo Park to fly the kite Hayden got from Hope for his birthday. It was a very gusty, but mild day and we had a lot of fun. Lainey got to crawl in the grass and I got some good pictures of both kids. (More of Lainey than Hayden. He was so busy running around that I had a hard time getting anything that wasn't blurry.)

The last picture... Hayden walking around the front yard on his birthday with a milk crate "helmet".

Aarrrrgh, What a Party!

We had a great 4th birthday party today! Here's the cake... Hayden loved it and we did manage to surprise him! Lainey even got into the "pirate" mood!It snowed on Saturday, but was mid-50's and sunny today! We got to have our treasure hunt in the backyard. I hid "gold" coins, rings and necklaces. The bigger kids even helped the younger and I think it went over well! Here are all the kids that joined us...

What a great day!

Happy Birthday to My Baby Boy!

I can't believe Hayden is 4 years old today! On March 16, 2003 I was awakened at about 6:30 a.m. by my water breaking. I woke Doug up and called the hospital and my SIL Leslie (Doug went back to sleep, Leslie brought me McDonalds for breakfast.) My contractions started around 8 a.m. By the time we got to the hospital at noon they were about 2 1/2 minutes apart. Doug was trying to study for midterms and had just headed to the anatomy lab when I told the Dr. I felt pressure (he had just checked me and I was around 7 - if I remember correctly). I DO remember the funny look on his face when he checked me again and said, "Ummm, we need to get Dad back here now. She's complete and +2 station." This was at 7 p.m. and my sweetest boy was born at 7:19 p.m. I still don't know what I expected him to look like, but when they laid him on my chest and I saw him for the first time it felt like I'd seen him a million times before!

Last night I kissed my 3 year old good night and this morning I was awakened by my 4 year old!

I think he's having a great birthday so far... We had a little party with Great Grandmother and Great Grandpa Kletke, Grandma and Grandpa Sonny and us last night to celebrate Great Grandmother's 87th birthday (yesterday) and Hayden's (today). They shared a cake and they both got to open some presents. I think Hayden asked Doug if he would put his "T-Rex Mountain" together when we got home about 10 times! He was up bright and early this morning to play with it. He also opened our gift (Imaginext Castle) and Lainey's (action figures for the castle.) We all got dressed and went to IHOP for breakfast. Hayden had Chocolate Chip pancakes (4 of them and there were only a few little pieces left!) He wanted to have Chipotle for lunch, but I don't think that we'll be hungry enough. We're going to have Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner as well (I can't argue with no cooking today!)
Hayden and Sophia are playing with his new toys and sound like they're having fun. Hayden keeps talking about an armadillo... Haven't figured that one out yet!
He's looking forward to his pirate birthday party on Sunday! I'll post pictures and info then... we haven't told him what kind of cake he's having. I think he'll be excited!

Walking!!

My sweetest little girl is growing up! She started walking at Great Grandmother's birthday party (see Hayden's birthday post for more on that.) She also got to open her birthday present from Great Grandmother and Great Grandpa. She LOVES her baby doll!

She loves blowing kisses now too! Not much longer and she'll be 1!!
